The Rise of Clippers in Short-Form Video Marketing

"Clipping" is taking long social media video content and cutting it up into a bunch of shorter pieces of highly effective content. It's become a trending topic recently because of a recent WSJ article.

Clipping (or more broadly, remixing) is a great concept and one we LOVE talking about it. You should always be looking for ways to turn one piece of content into many.

For example: A single blog post could be remixed into a...

🔁 A video summarizing the content

🔁 A long social media post with an image (or without an image)

🔁 An infographic

We could go on-and-on. If you challenged us, we could make a 100 pieces of content out of 1 strong piece of content.

👀 Keep your eyes peeled for clipping tools out there. There's a bunch. CapCut Pro has clipping features if you're a subscriber (like we are)

Threads Surpasses 400 Million Monthly Active Users

Meta's Threads is closing the gap with X, especially with active users on mobile. It's still far behind on desktop usage. We are curious how much of the "active" numbers are coming from sharing IG posts on Threads, which we would imagine inflate the numbers 🤔

Regardless, the platform continues to be on our radar for platforms to focus on.

Back-to-School Marketing

It's that time of year where brands push their back-to-school promos.

We'll take this opportunity to re-emphasize the importance of not over-targeting, especially if you're a bigger brand with a bigger budget.

For Meta specifically, the temptation is to use the detailed targeting option "Parents" and it's not a bad idea IF you are tight on budget-- you don't have enough dollars to feed algorithmic learnings.

The potential issues with using "Parents" targeting though is that:

1️⃣ CPMs can skyrocket (that's a popular targeting option)

2️⃣ You could be missing out on relevant users who Meta doesn't know are parents

Instagram Live Location Sharing Maps

People are upset about this one, and we think for a good reason. Sure, Snapchat also has this feature... but it's Snapchat. This is an opt-in feature and you can select who you share your location with, but we find this an unnecessary update. Like, who was asking for this?

From a business perspective, nothing to concern yourself with. Keep geo-tagging your posts (if it makes sense) for that extra layer of discoverability.

Roadmap update!

We're on track so far to meet our roadmap goals for August.

We're working on content for all courses + a brand new mini course on SEO vs AEO vs GEO 101.

Our latest free resource that we've built out is our Meta Ads Naming Convention Tool. Find it in the member resource hub.

Instant Forms Infographic

As we build our social media audiences, we're putting a lot of focus on LinkedIn (both our Company Page and founder's profile).

Something Miguel posted recently was an infographic that highlights his thought process for running lead gen on Meta Ads. Find it below:
